Champagne house Jacques Selosse is located in the village of Avize, on the Côte des Blancs de Champagne. The family estate comprises almost 8 hectares of vineyards in the crus of Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Ay, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Ambonnay. The estate was founded in the 1950s by Jacques Selosse, who sold much of his grapes to Champagne Lanson at the time, and he made his first wine in 1964. Ten years later, Anselme Selosse, his son, took over the domain. Anselme distanced himself from biodynamic doctrine and challenged the usual codes and processes. The thoughts and reflections of Masanobu Fukuoa (a Japanese farmer) and permaculture began to inspire him, and then his focus on vines and wine. Over the past 20 years, the Selosse family has developed its own system of viticulture, an approach that does not follow a fixed method, but constantly adapts to the conditions that arise during the growing season in the different plots of the vineyard.
Since 2012, Anselme Selosse has been preparing his son Guillaume to follow in his footsteps. During the time he has worked alongside his father, he has naturally developed his own skills and winemaking tendencies, which will surely give a unique identity to future cuvées.
