Marselan is a black grape variety obtained in 1961 by INRA Marseillan, the result of a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. It is renowned for its small grapes and low juice yields. It produces complex, highly colored and very fragrant wines (notes of cocoa, smoky notes, spices, blackcurrant, raspberry, redcurrant, blackberry, jammy fruit, black olives, prune, licorice...) rich in supple, harmonious tannins with plenty of fat and length and a fine aptitude for ageing.
