Mon P'tit Pithon rouge 2019, domaine Olivier Pithon, IGP Côtes Catalanes

Strange to call a wine by a cow's name. Not so twisted when you know Laïs, a Jersiaise, in Catalan country; it sums up the wine quite well. We want these wines to have a combination of freshness, depth and complexity for Laïs Blanc & a balance of freshness, fruit and tannin for Laïs Rouge. The local blend of these two wines shows the diversity of our Calce terroir.

Made from Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre grapes, Laïs is rooted in schist, clay-limestone and marl soils. Its maturation in concrete tanks allows the fruity, floral and mineral notes to express themselves with authority in a fresh, almost drinkable ensemble. Nice work!
