Thanks to its efforts and high-quality wines, the 2008 "Les Pierris" white Sancerre cuvée was served at the wedding banquet during the union of Princess Victoria of Sweden in June 2010.
The domain produces both Sancerre and Menetou-Salon appellation wines. The history of the domain dates back to the 17th century. Roger Champault continued this family adventure until the succession of Claude and Laurent in 1996. As pioneers, they equipped themselves with modern equipment (temperature-regulated vats, sorting tables, ...) while preserving traditions.
The diverse soils allow for diversity in the cuvées and provide distinct tones to the wines. Planted on hillsides with renowned exposures and terroirs, the domain now extends over about twenty hectares. The domain is also planted on three types of soils, but the Kimmeridgian (Terres Blanches) represents the majority of the vineyard, with 12 hectares. This geological period forms the high hills of Sancerre.
Average age of the vines: 40 years
Terroir: limestone called "Caillottes" (Upper Oxfordian, 160 million years old)
Winemaking: wine from the finest exposures in the appellation: we exploit 2.50 hectares out of the 18 hectares of the registered parcel. 100% fermentation in temperature-controlled vats to preserve freshness. After racking, the wine remains on fine lees until bottling in April, adding more complexity. Facing south on a chalky limestone soil, the vines have only 30 cm of arable soil. In this unique climate, the vines offer early and concentrated harvests.
