THE ESTATE

The CERES cuvée from Château Haut-Bages Libéral takes its name from the Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility. This Haut-Médoc wine with no added sulphur comes from an 8-hectare single vineyard with clay-limestone soil in the commune of Vertheuil. Certified organic and biodynamic since 2021, this is the first year that the vineyard has undergone Demeter conversion.

To illustrate the viticultural practices used throughout the production of this Haut-Médoc wine, the label designed by landscape artist François Houtin depicts a vineyard in its most natural state.

The Libéral family has governed Château Haut-Bages Libéral since the early 18th century. Over the years, these connoisseurs have brought together the best terroirs in Pauillac. Placed in the hands of Claire Villars-Lurton in 1982, Château Haut-Bages Libéral entered a new era of sustainable, virtuous, ancestral viticulture.

The vineyard

Certified organic since 2019, Château Haut-Bages Libéral is in the process of converting to biodynamic viticulture. Biodynamic, agro-ecological and agro-forestry methods guide all the viticultural practices at Château Haut-Bages Libéral. The 30 hectares of vines are grown on Günzian Garonne gravel on a clay-limestone substratum.
