Domaine de la Douaix, appellation Bourgogne

Vintners: Mark et Gilles Moustie

Gilles' father Mark bought the farm in Arcenant in Burgundy's beautiful Haute Côte in 1997, but the domain was only formally established in 2006. Gilles moved here permanently in 2008, and has been running the domain ever since. The domain has followed organic practices since its inception under the advice of Geophile (Jacques Moreau/Aurélien Febvre) and Gilles is running his first trials of biodynamic farming in 2019.

The domain makes 4 white wines, 3 of which are from vineyards in Arcenant. Particular to these wines is the content of Pinot Blanc, a grape not often seen in Burgundy but which contributes a freshness and an aroma that Chardonnay cannot deliver. The last white is a Corton Blanc, of which Gilles makes one barrel a year from the two rows he deals with.

To say the least, Gilles is in no hurry to get his wines out the door: he is among the very few who choose to age his wines for 2 years in barrel, about 20% of which are new, before releasing them.

There are 4 wines.
